ME-038 Annual Meeting is next month (February 10-11, 2026)

The Standards Australia ME-038 Main Technical Committee, responsible for the AS2885 suite, consists of representatives from these Nominating Organisations.

I haven’t included the individual representatives’ names, because, privacy…. but I also think that if you’re on the committee maybe it shouldn’t be private. I’ll bring that up at our meeting next month and get approval to publish the committee membership names here.

This year we have a special focus on the NZ regulatory status, as well as a special presentation about AS2885.4 (subsea pipelines).

The purpose of the Main Committee is plenary, strategic and high-level helicopter view of the status, progress and coordination of the whole committee portfolio (7 parts, 2 other standards, 1 handbook).

My heartfelt thanks to the members of the Main Committee, for their stellar commitment to the cause, their attention to detail when reviewing the Standards, and the professional approach to the role. And we do have some fun, too!

AS2885 Conversations Reinvigoration

Looking back through my set of internet browser ‘favourite’ links, looking through my LinkedIn groups and posts, and my emails and my file folders, I see so much good AS2885 content and conversations and knowledge and experience … and it’s just not being shared publicly enough lately.

So here I am, along with all of you, to resurrect the great conversations around AS2885, hydrocarbon pipelines, and pipelines in general.

It’s time to re-invigorate the ‘in public’ discussions about AS2885.

Look back through this blog, and the pipelinesoz blogs… and marvel along with me at how much information is available to us.

Maybe too much … so maybe this is a spot to bring up the ‘need to know now’ items that are on your to-do list. We’ll see how it evolves.

As a starter conversation, the APGA website provides a very good overview of AS2885. This is probably what newcomers to the industry come across when they start realising the wonderful world of AS2885 pipelines. Is it sufficient? I think it reads well, and captures the beauty of AS2885.

So, welcome, or welcome back … and … here’s to AS2885!
